Over the last three years, Airband has been building a robust wireless ethernet network across the three counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and South Warwickshire.
Network Purpose
The Airband network is a wide area ethernet network. Its purpose is to offer IP transit across the three counties and to offer direct internet connectivity.
Expanse
The Airband network runs from Henley in Warwickshire to Hereford and Leominster in Herefordshire. Airband utlise over 45 transmitter locations, most of which are solely owned. At most nodes a wi-fi access point has also been installed.
Resilience
The Airband wireless network has high resilience and fault tolerance.
This is due to the mesh nature of our network. All main nodes have a minimum of three diverse interconnects, and secondary nodes a minimum of two. One of the key areas of our network is the low latency experienced across the network as every node will route traffic down the best available link.
